This 8-hour lecture and laboratory course will cover the veterinary technician’s role in dentistry from start to finish — including check-in, estimates, anesthesia, scaling and polishing, imaging, and discharge.
The lecture portion (4 hours of RACE-approved CE) will focus on oral anatomy, common pathology, proper techniques for dental cleanings, ergonomics, instrument sharpening and care, radiograph safety, positioning, and proper anatomical abbreviation for dental charting.
The laboratory portion will provide hands-on practice in hand scaling, instument sharpening, and capturing diagnostic radiographs in dogs and cats, with an emphasis on safe technique, troubleshooting positioning, and improving image quality.
While the course is RACE-approved for veterinarians and technicians, we specifically offer it to technicians to create an environment where they feel more open, engaged, and confident in developing their skills without the pressure of having veterinarians present.
